Weslaco sales tax receipts rebound in May

Weslaco’s sales tax revenue is on the rebound a month after posting its first losses of the year, according to the Texas Comptroller’s July report, which calculated receipts generated two months prior.
Collections increased by more than 3 percent in Weslaco with $881,861.26 reported this May compared to $852,092.42 in May 2014. It’s an indication that the City on the Grow, which prior to a sales tax decline of nearly 4 percent in April — year over year — had enjoyed gains of more than 4 percent in March, 1 percent in February, 0.3 percent in January, 18 percent in December, 2 percent in November and 0.5 percent in September.
