(WESLACO) – With the State Track and Field Meet commencing this Saturday, the Weslaco Lady Panthers Relay Team is ready and raring to go.
“These girls are excited about this opportunity to represent Weslaco High at the state meet,” said Weslaco head girls track coach Pablo Almaguer. “They are ready and can’t wait for it to get here.”
Weslaco made school history at the Region IV-6A Meet two weeks ago as they became the first girls team to qualify for the state meet after placing second in the 4 x 400-meter relay race.
Besides making school history, they etched their name as one of the best relay teams in the Rio Grande Valley by breaking the girls record in the 4 x 400 with a time of 3:50.07 at the regional meet. The original record was held PSJA High who broke it in 1991.
