Patrons flock to Khan’s Grill during soft opening

The 26-year-old La Feria resident uttered the names of her favorite sauces on Thursday to marinate her plate of chicken, beef and fried rice at Khan’s Grill in Weslaco, where she’s long anticipated the opening of one of her favorite eateries.

The opportunity came Thursday, the first day of the restaurant’s soft opening, when hungry patrons slowly trickled in at 11 a.m. not fully aware that the restaurant had opened its doors. Later that evening, the establishment’s parking lot was at capacity.
“We won’t have our grand opening until another two months, so it’s too early to tell what the feedback will be like since we didn’t even publicize that we’d be opening,” local restaurant owner Rick Caballero said.

Ramon, who works at the new Wal-Mart in neighboring Donna, was one of the first customers at Khan’s Grill’s new location on 2307 W. Interstate 2, which is near Westgate Drive and off Expressway 83.
